World Of Warcraft, finally….

12 Feb

I’ve been a gamer for the majority of my life.  I played games on my first computer, a sinclair spectrum, and have done ever since.   At the ripe old age of 32 I’ve finally gotten a graphics card for my PC and am currently trialling World of Warcraft, the massively multiplayer roleplaying game.

So far I’m loving it…  unsurprisingly the most interesting component is the real time, real person aspect.  Thousands of people all over the world, all playing the same game at the same time.   It holds together really well, the interaction between other players works great, and the various plot threads are really well interlinked.

Much like Second life, this whole fantasy world thing is really interesting to me.  Key difference being that SL is more a life-sim, whereas WoW is a game with goals, missions and objectives.   It’s still amazing to me to see how far the industry has come.

See you in 8 months when your wife kicks you out, or the dog craps on your shoe.

Ha hah haha ha haha ha hah ha! You *nerd*!

Well, OK. I’ve thought about doing the same, but I’m afraid of what it will do to my poker-time. The opportunity cost of downloading WoW is potentially terrifying, and it’s not like Okami, PES6, Gears o’Bore, Wii Sports etc aren’t costing me enough man hours as it is.

Anyway. Have fun levelling up, and that.

Marc – haha, yeah… the dog doesn’t like the Orc noises that keep coming out of the computer, but what can you do?

Derm – I’m a level 10 wicked-warlock-wizard with more mana than you, so there. Say another word and I’ll turn you undead. Or something…..
