Really Annoying Things

# 42 (in a series).

Moving into a new house with a lovely fireplace. Building a fire to go in said fireplace. Not being familiar with the operation of the innards of the chimney above said fireplace, meaning that said fire results in you pretty much smoking yourself out of your own house. Good work there.

Open the flu and stick your arm all the way up to make sure it is indeed open.

Also, sometimes when it’s open, you still need to open a door in the door to create a good upward flow out the chimney. Old Scottish trick.

    Good luck.

And if you can’t open a door in the door, open a door in the room instead. :’)

Hehe, cheers. There’s actually a handy cord, I just thought it was already open. All good now though 🙂

And if you have not already worked it out the fake log things are way less work both in the keeping a cheery flame going and cleaning up the mess the next day.

But hold on a mo, you live in bloody San “Fook me its hot” Diego, what do you need a fire for?? And before you answer consider it is presently -12C outside here and that is the daily high.
