Frings Get Difficult for Germany

3 Jul

I’d really like the Germans to win (and initially I thougt they were going to), but the short answer now is I don’t think they can. Italy haven’t been scored against all tournament…. 450 minutes without the opposition getting past Buffon… nine goals, eight different scorers… that’s pretty incredible. Germany missing Frings…. not to mention their terrible record against Italy (never beaten them in the World Cup)… I think this is the end of the road for them.

I’d like to be wrong, as Italy in the final most likely won’t be pretty and I hate their negative play, but I fear they’ll have too much for the Germans tomorrow.

Incidentally, I know they don’t play till Wednesday, but the side of the French team bus reads: ‘Liberty, Egality, Jules Rimet’.

Excellent.

Not so sure, Italy did not do well in the high tempo physical contest with the USA! USA! USA! and Germany are better up fron than them. But I have given up predicting stuff anymore but I do think it will be Germany vs France in the fianl with the Germans winning it. I think the Germans feel they are destined to win it and have shed loads of confidence married with a good team spirit and desire to work hard for eachother, oh and the ref, who they are utilising to the fullest.

Actually I expect a game of falling over. We may get the best video replay of all time as two players blatantly dive to the ground, roll around clutching body parts, gurning in agony before realising that everyone in the stadium can see they never actually touched each other and rising sheepishly to their feet whilst their team mates sourround the ref demanding a yellow card for the opposition for ‘simulation’.

    Cynical, moi?????

Hehe. The Germans don’t go in for that too much, do they? Worst possible outcome would be an Italy/Portgual final. Could you imagine? LIke RB says below, they’d need a few exta stretchers fo that one.

Too right. Wow, that was incredible. Game of the tournament, goals of the tournament. Very pleasantly surprised with Italy’s approach… clinical rather than negative, no rolling around (or not much), nothing too negative. Deserved winners… as long as they keep it up I’ll be rooting for them in the final.

And what a stunning pair of goals.  Wow.

Top game, the first half from Italy was fantastic, Cannavaro was top notch and the Italians were great at hitting forward on the counter, Germans chasing shadows. What really impressed was the way the Italians came out for extra time, I thought the Germans might have tried that, but hitting the woodwork twice in the first 3 mins of extra time was impressive.
