I’ve been a gamer for the majority of my life. I played games on my first computer, a sinclair spectrum, and have done ever since. At the ripe old age of 32 I’ve finally gotten a graphics card for my PC and am currently trialling World of Warcraft, the massively multiplayer roleplaying game.
So far I’m loving it… unsurprisingly the most interesting component is the real time, real person aspect. Thousands of people all over the world, all playing the same game at the same time. It holds together really well, the interaction between other players works great, and the various plot threads are really well interlinked.
Much like Second life, this whole fantasy world thing is really interesting to me. Key difference being that SL is more a life-sim, whereas WoW is a game with goals, missions and objectives. It’s still amazing to me to see how far the industry has come.
